What is a Content Category?

A content category is an area of the website dedicated to a particular aspect of content. For example, this page is in a content category called "documentation". Content categories are useful for keeping your site organised and easy to use.

Each content category on your website is a separate folder, e.g. http://www.switchplane.com/docs/, and contains content pages.

Content categories are automatically shown on the site map of your website. This ensures that your site map is always up to date and makes it easy for the search engines to quickly find all of your content.

Content categories are also used to generate breadcrumbs on your page. At the top of this page, you can see there are three breadcrumbs pointing to the site home page, the documentation category home page, and this page respectively.
