What is a Product Classification?

A product classification is a method of specifying what kind of item a product is, for example, a book or a software application.

Once a product has been assigned a classification, you can set additional information about the product. In the case of a book, you can specify the ISBN code, the author(s) name(s), the publisher, the media type ("paperback", "hardback", or "audio"), and the condition of the book ("new" or "used").

Product classifications are also used when exporting data for use on price comparison sites such as Kelkoo and Dealtime.
