From the millions joining Joe Wicks via YouTube to the announcements that Cambridge University are to deliver all lectures online until summer 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed learning online into the spotlight.
Our Product Owner, Kev Jones, and Head of Marketing, Garry James, recently gave a webinar for one of our clients, the UFI Charitable Trust, an independent charity dedicated to increasing delivery of adult vocational learning through digital technology.
During the webinar, we discussed whether the current situation represented an opportunity or threat and outlined how recent events may have created entirely new markets for learning services. Learners looking to reskill or change career may now be much more aware of how to acquire and develop new skills online.
To adapt to these changing markets as a result of COVID-19, it’s important to consider the needs of these new customers and recognise that these may have fundamentally changed. Many businesses will have seen the cost savings from travel and home working and be keen to maintain these efficiencies in the future by looking for online training for their workforce.
So how do you reach and engage these new online audiences?
Social media platforms offer several methods. These include Facebook and Instagram advertising, where sophisticated algorithms and massive amounts of data can help reach new customers. Depending on the audiences you are trying to attract, a strategy of retargeting and lookalike ad campaigns coupled with engaging content can make for a successful formula.
Once you have attracted your audience, there are several alternative models available for generating revenue from pay as you go subscriptions to selling your online courseware via marketplaces.
